(If there are problems, please click on the link here!!) Students have been working on the Unity page in their altered book. They will design a quote that will unify an envelope into the page. Inside the envelope will be the title: Unity and the definition.
Students are completing their Elements of Design pages in their altered books. They have been working on these all quarter and they will be due on December 20th and will be worth a project grade.
SPACE: create a 2 point perspective drawing, with collage, and marker background. VALUE: create a magazine shading from a torn picture, add black and white collage papers, pencil and sharpie for the other page. COLOR: ombre with tissue paper; title and definition added in an interesting way. TEXTURE: collage with watercolor or bubble printmaking paper, collage with crumbled paper towel. (more to come on this one!) Samples of the altered books can be seen below: Students have been working on their space altered book featuring a 2 point perspective design. Students will create a 2 point perspective design on a small piece of colored paper. They will need 5-10 boxes, 2 overlapping areas, and 3 doors, holes, piercings, etc. Students will create a background on their altered book that creates the optical illusion of moving space. They will then collage their small 2 point perspective design onto the background along with other collaged papers that match with their chosen color scheme.
The students are working on their Altered book VALUE 2 page spread. Last week they picked a portrait from a magazine and ripped out the center section. This section they will replace with a value drawing. Students will be using a range of shading pencils from ebony, HB, and 2H to get very dark and very light value ranges. Students will then glue the magazine portrait into their altered book and decorate the altered book with black and white values for the rest of the 2 page spread. Students must also include the title: Value and its definition: lightness and darkness in a work of art. See the sample below for more ideas.
Students are creating a 2-page spread featuring an "ombre" design in the background out of various hues of tissue paper. They also included a title and definition for the page in an interesting way.
Students created a 2-page spread featuring pop up. In the background students added collaged papers to fill the negative space. They also included a title and definition for the page.
Students created a 2-page spread featuring a text poem. In the background students choose either geometric or organic shapes to add with prismacolor pencils. They also included a title and definition for the page.
