Today we completed our first altered book 2-page spread on the element of LINE. Students created a linear collage with fancy/textured papers. They then added line design with colored sharpies and completed the page with the title: LINE and its definition. Students who were not able to complete the assignment in class today can take it home, come in to work in the mornings, or complete it as an early finisher when they finish projects early in class.
We are going to use a Noton Square to emphasize the principle of Contrast in our altered books today!
Students will finish adding color to their Altered Book today. They will use markers to outline each shape and then add water to blend it, creating a slight tint of the color within the shape.
YESTERDAY was the last day to work on the Mash Up assignment in class, but students may continue to work on the mash up and artist statement at home to be turned in on Monday, March 21st.
We also began our next Altered Book Assignment on UNITY today. We created a pocket out of an envelope and put an inspirational quote all over the two page spread to unify the pages together. On Monday we will add color! We have been super busy over the last few days! We have been creating backgrounds for our Movement page in our altered books, learning about gesture drawing to create movement, and creating our mixed media layers for our Superhero Talisman assignment!
